Good but not available

I tried this model a couple days ago on horde, but it's gated in time of writing this. Hopefully it becomes available. I did really enjoy this model.

I agree, but apparently he uploaded these repositories just for 'friends', at least that's what he stated recently under his 'Ramble' post in response to a similar request. To be honest it's up to him if he wants to make his repositories public or not, but to invite requests and then ignore those requests while knowingly having no intention of granting access is very wrong.
I've already supported him earlier this year via Kofi, although to be fair I support people anonymously so he probably doesn't know of my donation.
Anyway I think it's time to move on.

@CherylF It’s funny that you say it’s time to move on after bringing up an issue that’s already been resolved. This was not done out of any sort of malicious intent, like you seem to be convinced of; they simply didn’t know of a better way to share models privately with a small group of people and have since setup a HuggingFace organization to do so.

I don’t get why you’re bringing up your donation as if it means they have some sort of obligation to you now; you donated (anonymously), not purchased a product or service.

Thanks for that clarity @HiroseKoichi , and I thank you @Sao10K for making it publicly available.

I understand both parties here. But let's keep the open-source community friendly and... open?)

  1. Devs and researchers can be a bit more open with their descriptions. For example, this model is fairly experimental and under closed testing. It may/will be published or used as a base for future models only after that... or maybe this is just a pure experiment to try new methods of training or something, and was never intended to be public.
  2. Users and fans should be a bit more patient and understand that not every model is the new banger that devs want to gate or monetize. And that they are people with bills and problems (green tea addiction in this case) too.

And @HiroseKoichi , please, treat supporters with a bit of respect. Maybe they cannot donate for 2 shiny H100, but they are a part of a very loyal... and maybe a bit over-passionate community.
So, good and clear communication is a must.

Have a good day, y'all)
And thanks @Sao10K for his work.

When I read their comment, I felt like they were coming across as aggressive and entitled. They put 'friends' in quotes, implying Sao10K was lying about it, and basically pulled a "do you know who I am" with the comment about their donation. If that wasn't their intention, I apologize, but that's how it seemed to me.

My intention was not to shame them by suggesting they should've donated more. All I meant was that you should never donate with the expectation of getting something out of it, no matter how much you've donated. The very nature of a donation is to give something away with the expectation that you will never get that value or its equivalent back.

I absolutely agree that every community should be friendly, but not everyone within a community is friendly. Again, if I misunderstood their intentions, then I apologize.

This isn't nice. He was voicing his opinion. A mob mentality of hate is not a good idea. He has a valid point. You will never find a hater doing better than you. Less hate more understanding.

I don't quite understand how explaining my point of view and then apologizing if I misinterpreted CherylF's comment could be considered starting a mob mentality of hate... In fact, I haven't used profanity, hate speech, or personally attacked anyone in this thread... Your comment definitely seems more hateful than anything I've said so far...

I guess there is no need to continue this. Nobody died and everyone got the point. Better let's test this model out xD
